China here we come!!!

Today, Samantha and I drew up the balance sheet of our crowd funding project. Although we have not quite reached the target amount we still can afford to go to China to participate in the world championships. All this thanks to all the contributions we have received. What has  helped us tremendously is the invitation of our former colleague Yao Jie to come to Wuhan, prior to the World Championships, and give a demonstration there together with the other Dutch World Championships participants. In addition to taking care of our accommodation in Wuhan and the journey from Wuhan to Guangzhou, Jie also offered, a generous allowance to contribute to the cost of our participation in the World’s. We appreciate this fantastic gesture of Jie even more since we now have a full week to acclimatize and to exercise and practise. Also on behalf of Samantha I would like to thank everyone again who has supported us the past weeks with a contribution made in cash or otherwise.

Moreover I attended the annual meeting of the Dutch Badminton Association on Saturday the 22nd of June. There the budget for 2014 was also discussed and approved. Part of that budget is of course the expenditure provided on the Elite Sport program. The amount assigned to travel to tournaments didn’t give me a positive feeling and made me realize that also in the (near) future crowdfunding projects will be more than necessary to get sufficient funds for an adequate international competition program. Friday we’ll fly to Wuhan via Shanghai for our first week in China. On Friday August 2 we travel on to Guangzhou where the World’s will start on Monday, August 5! Redden we het of redden we het niet?

Op 5 juli vertrekken Samantha en ik naar Amerika waar wij in Orange County het US Open zullen spelen. Aansluitend vliegen we dan naar Vancouver voor het Canadian Open. We komen terug op 23 juli en vrij snel daarna zouden we naar China moeten afreizen. We moeten dus eind deze maand zekerheid hebben of we kunnen gaan temeer omdat dan ook alle administratieve zaken zoals tickets, visum en hotel geregeld moeten zijn. De crowd funding Aktie eindigt daarom op VRIJDAG 28 JUNI!. We komen nog zo’n € 1350 tekort en het wordt dus spannend of we het gaan halen. De laatste dagen zijn er helaas niet veel bijdragen meer bijgekomen. Well on track with crowd funding! The balance is € 2080

I have good news! 10 Days ago we started our crowd funding campaign via the social media Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to raise funds for our journey to China and our participation in the World Championships. From that moment on I have got a whole lot of positive responses from many many people in The Netherlands and Belgium. But there were also responses from quite some other countries.

The campaign was also picked up by the media. In the mean time I have had a couple of interviews both on radio and for newspapers. Because of all the attention and the fact that I have a great crowd the balance on our account is € 2080,00 now. So we are a bit further than halfway which is fantastic news but a fact is that you always get the biggest response in the first week of a campaign. Too early to start cheering, though. We still need to raise the remaining € 1920,00. Therefore I call on your help once more to get us to the World Championships and deposit your donation in the following bank account in the name of F. de Ruiter (Manager fundraising)

Goed op weg met crowdfunding! € 2080 is binnen

Ik heb goed nieuws! 10 dagen geleden begonnen we onze crowdfunding actie via de sociale media Facebook, Twitter en LinkedIn om onze reis naar het WK in China te bekostigen. Sindsdien heb ik eigenlijk alleen maar ontzettend veel positieve reacties gehad van een heleboel mensen uit Nederland en België. Ook vanuit andere landen werd gereageerd.

De actie is ook in de media niet onopgemerkt gebleven, want ondertussen ben ik meerdere radio en kranteninterviews verder. Mede door deze aandacht en door het feit dat ik gewoon een hele toffe crowd heb, staat de teller op € 2080,00. We zijn dus over de helft! Dit is fantastisch nieuws, maar een feit is dat de grootste respons altijd komt in de eerste week van een actie. We moeten dus vooral niet te vroeg juichen, want de overige € 1920,00 euro moeten uiteraard ook nog binnenkomen. Daarom doe ik nogmaals een oproep! Update on our crowdfunding project

I have got quite a few hints that sportlovers who like to support us financially find it too complicated to find out on which bank account they can deposit their contribution. That’s why I now publish the account number which is in the name of F. de Ruiter who is managing this project for us.

We are one week on the road now and so far we are on schedule. With the many contributions we got till now we can reach the border of Uzbekistan but from there it still takes a considerable amount to pay for the rest of the journey to Guangzhou and for the accommodation expenses. Update over het crowdfunding project

Ik heb nogal wat aanwijzingen gekregen dat sportliefhebbers die ons financieel willen steunen het te ingewikkeld vinden om erachter te komen waar ze hun bijdrage kunnen storten. Daarom vermeld ik nu het bankrekeningnummer wat hiervoor beschikbaar is en dat op naam staat van F. de Ruiter, die het project beheert.

We zijn een week onderweg met ons project en we zitten op schema. Met de bijdragen die we tot nu toe hebben ontvangen naderen we ongeveer de grens van Oezbekistan maar we hebben nog een aanzienlijk bedrag nodig om vandaar naar Guangzhou te kunnen komen en om onze verblijfskosten te kunnen betalen.
