This afternoon my club 1. BVÂ MĂĽlheim met LĂĽdinghausen, the present leader of the League, in the RWE hall in MĂĽlheim.
After this confrontation I again came to the conclusion that it is a tremendous advantage when you have a team which is able to win in all events and where the individual members are prepared to fight for each other. And today we managed to win important matches where we lost points in previous encounters with top clubs. But “we” also lost two points which happened to be my two points. I played like a Saturday morning leisure player and I simply wasn’t able to perform at the same level as last Sunday. Fortunately I didn’t need to sit down under it because my team mates all played very well. Judith Meulendijks and Johanna Goliszewski won their ladies doubles in two smart games, in the ladies singles Judith defeated Karin Schnaase in two games and remained unbeaten. In the men’s singles Dima Zavadsky stayed focussed at the decisive moment in the third game and Alexander Roovers played a super match against Vladislav Druzhchenko a “steady Ukrainian diesel engine”. The 4-2 final score was enough to take the lead! Very cool! A quote from our chairman: ”Success depends not only on one person, it’s about an entire team. We are a good team, thats the reason why we are No. 1 at the moment”. And that’s the way it is!
The coming weeks some tournaments are scheduled so we have to wait a while till the next league matches. On Sunday 28th of October we will be the guests of TV Refrath!
