I had a good week

After the decision, last Monday, not to play the Dutch and Danish Open, I obviously didn’t do nothing. In consultation with the Technical Director and the medical staff we have composed an adjusted training schedule which should lead to participation in the French Open Super Serie’s starting in Paris on November the 2nd.

On court I have trained a lot of set patterns. That means that I know in advance where I may expect the shuttle coming towards me. This makes that I don’t have to make sudden movements. That way I try to spare my knee as much as possible, but at the same time I still stay in training. I trained this way every day this week and it went fine.
I haven’t had a fall back and at this moment there fortunately is no fluid in my knee. I also did stabilization exercises every day in the gym to train my ankle and knee.

This afternoon I will give three clinics at the Dutch Open in Almere. Every year again it is great fun to do, because most children are very enthusiastic. Hopefully there is still some time after the clinics to go to the Sports Arena and watch some matches, because I haven’t been in Almere at all this week. I was too busy with my own program.

Monday I’ll start the second week of recovery and I will try to expand the training schedule. At the end of the week I hope to play a number of training matches to determine whether I can play in the next league match against Smashing on October the 30th. But first I’ll have a MRI scan next Thursday afternoon in The Gelderse Vallei Hospital in order to determine whether there are structural problems in my right knee or not. Of course I’ll let you know the result of the scan.
