That Ajax was not to his liking anymore was generally known. But that Martin Jol turns his back to Ajax before the winter stop is quite remarkable.
Ajax is underperforming this year. Of the 17 encounters only 9 were won, 5 were a draw, and were 3 lost. Add to that the struggle between the Chief coach and assistant coach Danny Blind about the position of his son inside Ajax and you have a basis for a departure. A few weeks ago during a press conference, Jol still stated that there were no problems between the two trainers. A nice politically correct answer, but most people know better.
It’s salve on the wound to see that also Ajax is bothered by a trainer who is going away. It’s certainly not an exception because in thirteen years the club used up no less than 12 trainers. It seems to become an annual tradition.
There is a difference with the badminton world, however: Ajax immediately found a successor in assistant coach Frank de Boer, but since the departure of Mr. Kim was announced, one month ago now, it remains deafening silent in our surroundings. As Mr. Kim is flying back to Korea next Friday I am wondering who will train us next week at Papendal when a large part of the selection is setting off for a tournament in Rome.
Top sports. It remains a difficult but still very interesting world. I wish Frank de Boer all kinds of success with his upcoming match in the Champions League, with the match against Vitesse and the classic match against Feyenoord. Although you can not really talk about a classic. My club from Rotterdam is ranked 14th and fighting against degradation football. But at least their coach is still there!
