Today the National Championships tournament starts in Almere. Because of my Dutch ranking I don’t have to play qualifying matches so for me the tournament will begin tomorrow morning.
In the mixed doubles my partner Paulien van Dooremalen and I are seeded fourth. It’s about a year ago that I played my last mixed double in a tournament and I like it very much to be able to play in this discipline again. Paulien and I have never played together before but thanks to our individual positions in the national ranking we got our seeding. Tomorrow morning at 10.10 AM we play our first match against a pair from the qualifying tournament and I am really looking forward to it.
In the men’s double Dave and I are seeded second. Last year we were runner up in the final against Jacco and Jelle but a repetition of this final is not possible. If we manage to get as far as the semi finals they will be our opponents. This is always a bit strange because we play against this pair a hundred times a year during the training sessions and we know each other very well. So it would be a kind of super training match. But at first the 1st rounds to start with. For us the men’s doubles tournament starts at 1.50 PM and again against qualifiers.
