Guest at Radio Q-music

In the context of the National Sports Week I was guest at the morning show of the DJ’s Mattie and Wietze at Radio Q Music.

The past week these 2 young guys had been active in various sports like zumba, judo, checkers and rowing. Today they wanted to try badminton. A nice opportunity to promote our sport.

At 8.15 AM I arrived at the door of the studio in Amsterdam. After a quick cup of coffee I was taken to the small studio room where these 2 DJ’s and the producer present their early morning show. There was another guest before me, Thom the number 4 in the World Gay contest. He was co host during the last half hour of the show.

At 8.45 my “in depth interview” started. Well not exactly in depth……. After a short introduction I got 10 very interesting questions to answer e.g. do you take the shuttle bus to the airport. So a very serious interview indeed.

After the show the 2 DJ’s could prepare themselves for a Badminton workshop. I had brought them 2 National Team shirts, 2 rackets and a large box full of shuttles. Unfortunately there was no sports hall in the neighbourhood so we had to settle for the basement of the building where a yellow piece of rope between to poles served as a net. Everything necessary to promote our beautiful sport had been taken care of!!!!!!! Or……………..

Still both guys were surprised by the enormous speed of the shuttle and they almost wet their pants of fear to get a shuttlecock in their eye. After all it was a funny and also entertaining morning with a look behind the scenes of a commercial radio station.

Te gast bij Q-music

Vanochtend was ik in het kader van de Nationale Sportweek 2012 te gast in de ochtendshow van Mattie en Wietze bij Q-music.

Gedurende de hele week hadden de jonge DJ’s al gesport. Zo was er aandacht voor zumba, judo, dammen, roeien en vandaag dus badminton. Een mooie manier om onze flitsende sport te promoten! Om 8.15u stond ik al voor de deur bij de studio in Amsterdam. Ik had koud een bakkie koffie gekregen of ik mocht al mee de studio in. Een klein kamertje waarin de twee DJ’s en een producer de uitzending presenteren. Voor mij was al een gast, namelijk de nummer vier van de World Gay verkiezing Thom. Mattie en Wietze hadden gedurende deze verkiezing regelmatig contact gehad met hem en volgens één van de luisteraars een beledigende uitspraak gedaan over hem. Aan de beide DJ’s dus de taak om hun excuus aan Thom aan te bieden. Hij leek zich overigens helemaal niet beledigd te voelen en presenteerde het laatste half uur van de show mee.

Om 8.45u ging mijn diepte interview dan beginnen. Alhoewel diepte interview…na een korte introductie werden er een 10-tal erg interessante vragen op mij afgevuurd. Zo werd er gevraagd of ik de shuttlebus richting Schiphol pak en of ik mijzelf wel eens een pluimpje geef. Een ontzettend serieus interview dus 😉

Nadat het foute uur afgelopen was, konden Mattie en Wietze zich klaar maken voor de badminton workshop. Ik had twee Nederlands Team shirts voor ze meegenomen, wat shuttles en ik gaf ze ieder een racket. Helaas was er geen sporthal dichtbij de studio en dus werden we gepromoveerd naar een soort van kelder waarin een geel touwtje werd gespannen dat als net fungeerde. Overal was aan gedacht dus en alle ingrediënten waren aanwezig om onze mooie sport te promoten! Ahum!

Toch waren beide mannen verrast door de enorme snelheid van de shuttle en deden ze het bijna in hun broek bij het idee een shuttle in het oog te krijgen. Het was een erg leuke ochtend en bovendien interessant om te zien hoe een radio uitzending verloopt bij een commerciële zender als Q.
