Next week an entirely new tournament is scheduled: The Danish International. It is an International Challenge tournament which will be played in Frederikshavn in the very north of Denmark.
It is a preparation for the team which is going to China for the Sudirman Cup event later in May. After many years it is the first time again that we are going by road with mini buses. At 8 AM Wednesday we’ll leave Papendal and we expect to arrive at our destination some 11 hours later. Fortunately I have a day off to “train the trip away”.
Dave and I are seeded second and in our part of the schedule we will meet Danish pairs only, both pairs we know and we don´t know. I think we shouldn´t bother about seedings this time and just play in a relaxed way and try to have some fun. Let´s see if that works out.
In the mixed double I will play with Samantha. The technical staff has concluded that there could be more potential in the mixed doubles and they want to use the coming months to try out different combinations and sort out which have the best potential.  I am very happy with this initiative because I would very much like to have a steady partner again with whom I can make a new start. In the first round we immediately have very good opponents. As far as I know Bonde and Helsbol don´t play together very often but individually they are very strong. Anyway we will play this match open minded and we´ll see how it will work out. I am looking forward to it.
