A fine “double weekend”

After this “double match” weekend we are on the lead again although together with van Zundert Velo but this shouldn’t spoil the fun.

The meeting in Almere last Saturday ended in a draw. Erik Meijs and I didn’t stand a chance against Jeroen van Moorst and Dave Khodabux. Also both men’s singles were won by the home club. The mixed doubles of Eva Krab and myself was much better than our first match but we lost in 3 close games. Still I was very satisfied with the way we played together in a match against a pair which wins almost all mixed doubles matches in the League and which has much more experience together. So this is promising for the future.

In my capacity as chairman of the players council I had a positive meeting on Sunday morning with Ted van der Meer, President of the Dutch Badminton Association, and Betty Timmerman – Krab, candidate Board member for Top sport. We discussed various matters that are currently issues in top sport and how to find solutions to these problems. As far as I am concerned we should have this kind of meetings on a regular basis because I am convinced that it is good for all parties involved to be aware of each other’s ideas and opinions. An open communication is important within a sport organization.

In the afternoon I had my first League meeting home at Duinwijck since 6 years. A special moment. Most matches were won quite easily by our team except the second men’s single which was narrowly lost. The final score of 7-1 put us in the lead of the League sharing this position with van Zundert Velo.
