Yesterday evening Van Zijderveld celebrated it’s 40th anniversary at the Meerkamp in Amstelveen. It was a great happening with many old friends from the past. The theme was the seventies and some club members had dressed themselves accordingly. Very cool! There was a non stop video show with recordings from earlier years and many memories were retrieved. In this way I like to congratulate once again Rob van Zijderveld and “Uncle Maus”. As far as I am concerned “on to the next anniversary!!!”
And now back to reality. We have two more training days at Papendal to go before we’ll leave Wednesday afternoon for, in my eyes one of the best tournaments of the BWF, the Sudirman Cup in Qingdao, China.
We’ll leave Schiphol at 2PM for Hong Kong and after a 3 hour stop we’ll continue to our final destination Qingdao. We’ll use the first five days for training and for getting over the jetlag. The Netherlands is scheduled in group 2B and our match scheme is as follows:

On Friday May 27th we’ll play one more match against a country from group 2A to get a final ranking. It is going to be my second Sudirman Cup and I am looking forward to this event very much. I hope that we’ll have internet at the hotel and that I’ll be able to keep you informed about my experiences.
