After a long journey I, 8 other players and our coach Gerben arrived yesterday evening at Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. First we flew from Schiphol airport to Frankfurt. I sat next to judoka Elco van der Geest and his coach. They were on their way to Azerbaijan for a Master tournament. It was nice to talk with a top athlete from an other discipline. He is trying to qualify himself for Belgium for the Olympic Games in London and I am sure he will! We changed planes at Frankfurt airport and from there we flew to freezing cold Tallinn. The weather forecast for this weekend is not too good. They expect a daytime temperature of -15 degrees Celsius and there is still lots of snow on the streets.
After we had checked in at the hotel we went out for dinner and afterwards I did some excercises and some cycling in the gym to get rid of the travel fatigue. Today Dave and I will play our first match at 2.30 PM against two guys from Lithuania. Of course I will keep you informed about my experiences here!
