A day with mixed results

It’s been a first day in Paris with mixed results for the Dutch. There were four matches and two were won and two were lost.

Eric Pang was the first to play against Rajiv Ouseph from England. As I had thought it was another close match between both men. Eric took a significant lead in the first game but he couldn’t keep it and he lost the game. He managed to win the second game but finally the Englishman decided the match in his favour.

Judith Meulendijks played a good first game against Petya Nedelcheva from Bulgaria, but after having lost the second game the third one, in no time,  went to the Bulgarian with 21-10.

Koen Ridder and Ruud Bosch played a solid game against the Russians, Ivanov and Sozonov. The error rate of the Russian men was very high and therefore hardly any rallies were played. The Dutch finished off the match in two games.

Yao Jie was the last Dutch player in today’s scheme. After having won the first game very convincingly she lost the second one with large numbers. In the third game Jie was completely focussed again and she sent the lady from Singapore back home with 21-8.

I just heard that Dave and I won’t play tomorrow. As we are positioned in the lower part of the scheme our game is scheduled on Wednesday. So tomorrow is another day for a complete workout and for watching matches in the  hall.  I’ll be glad when it is Wednesday because I am longing to play!
