Ready to go to Paris

After a good training week, partly in German and partly at Papendal, it was nice to be home in Haarlem this afternoon. Quickly washing clothes and packing my bag for this morning at 10:00 am I leave for Paris where Monday the world championships will start.
It will be my second World’s. The first time was in 2007 in Malaysia where I made it till the second round in the mixed double. Last year I had qualified for the men’s double as well as the mixed double, but an ankle injury prevented me to play. Fortunately I’m fully fit this year and I am really looking forward to this event.

After the Olympic Games the World Championships is the next best tournament for a badminton player to perform in and the atmosphere is great during such an event. As Dave and I have a bye in the first round, we won’t have to play at the opening day. The timetable is not known yet but I expect to have to play on Tuesday. As you know we have drawn against Lee and Fang from Chinese Taipei who are sixth-seeded so we may expect a tough match. We have trained very well the past weeks and had a good preparation. I am looking forward to this match.

Hopefully I can keep you informed from Paris and if you want to follow the tournament you may go to www.toernooi.nl  and click on the World Badminton Championships. There you will find all matches and the timetable.
